Restorative / Yin Yoga & Relaxation Therapy

Restorative yoga a supported, conscious body/mind relaxation practice.
Restorative Yoga is a practice of relaxation. Practice is completed in a series of poses and counter poses that open the body passively, using blankets, bolsters, and other props, to enhance the work of gravity.
When supported with props, the body relaxes and opens, releasing tension and stored-up toxins that can cause illness. Restorative poses offer benefits to both the body and mind, for conditions including insomnia to asthma to chronic pain to migraines to depression and many others.
Stress reduces our quality of life. Chronic stress reduces the quality of our WHOLE life. And, in fact, life itself is at risk! The body's capacity to heal itself is compromised, inhibiting recovery from injury or illness, and may even create new illness or injury, including high blood pressure, ulcers, back pain, immune dysfunction and depression.
In yoga, we have poses and counter poses. They are necessary to balance our body systems. The counter pose to stress is relaxation. Restorative yoga and relaxation therapy is a very effective means to alleviate our stressors. The restoration process focuses on presence, renewal, effortlessness and ease.

Regular practice of restorative yoga brings you back to equilibrium. Consistent practice soothes your nervous system, helps quiet your mind and invites your body to release deeply held tension. The practice of breathwork, coupled with soothing restorative asanas (poses) balance the flow of energy making room for soul expansion.
Restorative poses cultivate presence.By focusing our attention on breath, we practice presence. As we notice our mind wandering, we continually return to breath. Using our breath as a tool, we scan our bodies -- noting and releasing any tension we may be holding. We simply breath into the area where tension is held. As we exhale, we release. During such periods of deep relaxation, we are healed and nurtured from Spirit within.
Restorative yoga is deeply relaxing. Restorative yoga is practiced in a series of poses and counter poses. These poses are supported by props and bolsters, held for a longer periods of about 6 - 12 minutes each. Every transition is a moving meditation. Restorative yoga is absolutely perfect for newcomers, and everyone at every level is welcome.
We welcome all to our restorative yoga practice.
